La place Piron

At the dawn of the 20th century, the village’s main square was a bustling place with many shops.

In 1920, the village counted two innkeepers, two cabaret owners, a baker, two butchers, a fishmonger, a grocer and a tobacconist.

Arts and crafts were also well represented with a cycles merchant, a coal merchant, a roofer, two carpenters, etc.

Renamed Place Piron since the 3 rd of June 1973 in the presence of Jean-Baptiste Piron, in homage to soldiers who liberated Sallenelles the 17 th of August 1944.
