In 1775, a conflict broke out between inhabitants of Sallenelles and their parish priest, Guillaume Mangin, who made a complaint to the Caen authorities about the lack of a presbytery to accommodate him.
He therefore initiated legal proceedings to get the Sallenellais to agree to build him a suitable presbyteral manor, in accordance with the Royal Edict of 1695.
